What Home Buyers Are Really Looking For in 2019

Putting your home on the market is not as straightforward as it may sound. There are preparations involved, not least of which are the repairs and some home improvement projects you might want to undertake if you want your home to be more attractive to buyers. Do the right projects and you might be able to ask for higher offers than what you’d get if you just tried to sell right now.

DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen, your home remodeling authority, has some tips on what features most home buyers are looking for today.

Laundry Room

The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) released a report for 2019 on “What Home Buyers Really Want” and “laundry room” topped the list of the most desirable features buyers want to see in a home. Four thousand consumers were asked to rank 175 home features based on how important they were in influencing the consumers’ decision to buy the home and the laundry room got 91%.

Walk-In Pantry

Walk-in pantries enjoyed 83% on the same survey. This probably means you have to work on your kitchen. While investing in a walk-in pantry is a good idea now based on this survey, you should be ready for the expense. Perhaps you can at least make smaller changes with your kitchen cabinets, countertops and sink if you can’t start a full-blown walk-in pantry project.

Double Kitchen Sink

Speaking of kitchen sink improvements, getting a new double kitchen sink is a surefire way of attracting buyers, as this kitchen component garnered 81% of votes.

ENERGY STAR Whole Home

Surveyed consumers also gave 81% to an entire home equipped with ENERGY STAR components, making it more energy-efficient. Getting ENERGY STAR-rated appliances alone, meanwhile, got 86% and ENERGY STAR-rated windows 89%. Whether you’re making your entire home energy-efficient or you’re just working on specific areas, such as a bathroom remodel, it’s a good idea to ensure ENERGY STAR compliance.
